18 Countries Reveal Their Beauty Standards By Photoshopping One Woman into an Unrecognizable Version

UK medical website, Superdrug Online Doctor, published an experiment that explores beauty standards in context to body image. This latest project was inspired by the viral campaign where journalist Esther Honig circulated 27 images that were “enhanced” by photoshop artists from 27 different countries, according to their cultural perspective of ideal beauty.
The market agency Fractl was hired for this project and they gave one simple direction to 18 different freelance designers from 18 countries across the world, “Photoshop her form. The idea is to photoshop and retouch the woman in the photograph to make her more attractive to the citizens of your country. We are looking to explore how perceptions of beauty change across the world. Multiple designers are involved. You can modify clothing, but her form must be visible. No nudity. All other changes, including those to her shape and form, are up to you”.
